Alan Johnston Interview

On the 12th March 2007 Alan Johnston, BBC reporter was kidnapped in the Gaza strip. For four months he was held as the world watched with breath held.

Then suddenly on the 4th July Alan was freed.

It was a wonderful moment, one that people across the world had been united in demanding. We would not bow to the kidnappers and we wanted Alan back.

Alan returned home to Argyll in Scotland to be with his family and time moved on.

Alan has just written an article for the BBC website ahead of a television programme and an interview on ‘From our own correspondent’ on Radio 4.

Please read his article. It is strangely beautiful.

I listened absolutely transfixed to “from our own correspondent” – stunning, moving and, yes, beautiful

I frustratingly missed the interview, but have downloaded it from iTunes. Interestingly enough it was number 2 in the iTunes download chart.
